I was recently quoted on Toilet Paper Entrepreneur’s post: 163 Ways to Become an Entrepreneur. I said:

19. Plan Less, Act More

How To Become An Entrepreneur: Stop planning, start acting. You’ll make mistakes along the way, but eventually you’ll figure out the solutions that work for you and your business.”

My full quote was:

“I think people get too wrapped up in the details of “becoming an entreprenuer.” Stop planning, start acting. You’ll make mistakes along the way, but eventually you’ll figure out the solutions that work for you and your business. Focus on the end result you want to achieve for yourself: is it the flexibility to work your own hours? Travel for extended periods of time? Build a global empire? Each of those goals requires a different kind of business and lifestyle. Start acting on those plans and you’ll be an entrepreneur.”

I really believe this. I’ve spent most of my twenties planning to be an entrepreneur and trying to figure out the perfect business to start. I wish I had spent that time just trying things out and having the courage to stick to it instead of defaulting into the working world when something didn’t work out.

I believe that most people aren’t fortunate to “love” something that makes money. I love sexy things. Things like traveling, climbing, biking, and hanging out with the people that I love. These things don’t make me money. My job makes me money, and my business is starting to make me money, but neither of these things are what make me get up in the morning.

I’ve learned to stop looking for a sexy, brilliant business idea that will also make me fabulously wealthy. All I want is a business that pays my way, allows me to save, and can be done digitally from anywhere in the world. I think I’ve found that business.

Does your business get you up in the morning? Or do you do it to pay for the things you love?
